The Best Spot for Sunset in Yosemite National Park

Heading to Yosemite and want the best spot for sunset? Boy, do I have a recommendation for you!

If you’re anything like me, you’re a sunset/sunrise addict. I’m always scoping out the best spots (preferably without massive crowds of people) where I can have a relaxing morning or wind down at the end of the night.

I was in legit aw when I sat down at this place and watched the sun go down. Breathtaking views, a nice breeze, and my best friends by my side. My heart was so full!

So where the heck am I talking about?

Here’s the Best Spot for Sunset in Yosemite National Park!

Glacier Point!

I’m sure there are tons of other places in Yosemite that have unbelievable sunsets, but this one really stands out.

You’ll get an incredible view of the vast valley, and right in the middle is Half Dome (the huge mountain in the middle) poking out.

As the sun set, there were literally 4 different pastel shades on Half Dome. It was incredible.

And let me tell you, this picture doesn’t do it justice at all.

The sky literally changed colors every second as the sun fell.

I was speechless and never wanted the moment to end (luckily cameras were invented😊).

Know before you go

• Expect a lot of people and not much parking. It’s a very popular spot – for good reason!
• Get there early so you have a parking spot and a good spot to sit before everyone shows up
• Make sure you know how long it takes to drive there – it takes longer than you think and you don’t want to miss the sunset! Expect it to take 30-60 minutes (depending how heavy traffic is). Even if you get there right on time, you’ll probably have to wait in quite a long parking line!

If you stay past sunset, you’re in for a treat. The stars are incredible! The crowd lightens and you’re able to find a great spot to witness a starry night and maybe even catch a few shooting stars!
